The Cumballa Hill High School is now at its 74th year has its origin in the Cumballa Hill  School for  Infants founded in 1940 by Mrs. Dolly H. Forbes. Today in 2014 it is a full High  School and prestigious institution- A private unaided institution. So many have passed  through its portals and  secured high positions in India and abroad. From a small group of  play school youngsters the  school has grown from an acorn to a stately oak tree. First  footprints housed at Kemps Corner, the  school now occupies premises in two well known  areas of South Bombay.

 Primary section has a kindergarten and prep section with classes up to Std. IV. There are no divisions and classes moving up are filled to capacity so only in case of a chance  vacancy the pupil may be tested for admission. However full admission begins in Nursery Class at  3 years age from October onwards for the next academic year.

Secondary Section is from Std.V-X. The school has all communities, castes and creeds. Throughout the attitude prevails that we are Indian Citizens of this great democracy and live together in friendship, peace and harmony.

Our PTA Secretary Tanaaz Irani holds English Elocution Classes once a week and then annually we have exciting competition. Mrs. Armaity Kollah was the Judge and 1st Prize went to Aamil Kader of Std. VII. The diction, expression and modulation of tone receive special attention from Tanaaz and we thank her for giving this weekly timing for students.

Routine school work is interposed with many events and activities.

Assembly class wise and  Canteen held by class and Houses are very popular with the students of all sections. The Primary  also holds an Annual Fancy Dress Competitions and all students participate in Elocution, Hindi Divas and French day. Photographs are selected to build up a comprehensive School Magazine.

Uniforms for Nursery sections are especially selected for light clothing, in shades of blue and red for Boys and Girls. Formal Uniforms begin from Std. I on entering High School at Primary level.

Houses:
There are four houses to instill and foster in the pupils, collective responsibility and team spirit with solidarity. The idea of competition is of a healthy nature based on all facets of work and activity. Bus Committee is formed to monitor the Bus Rules.

Prefects have special color added to their girdles to distinguish their responsible positions and Boys wear different Burgundy Prefect Ties. House Captains, Head Boy and Head Girl are selected or nominated from prefect list. Announced with pride, with an outstanding ceremony on Annual Day. Each Section of School has its own fleet of Bus Service under a reliable Bus Contractor. There are all together 11 Buses for different routes at present.

Faculty:
Mrs. Jyoti Kothare is Headmistress of Secondary and V-VII administration comes under Mrs. Parveen Kerawala who is the Primary Headmistress.
The Cumballa Hill High School can boast of 40 members fully qualified and experienced staff. Besides Class Teachers each section has special Subject Teachers with a trained qualified separate faculty for Computer and IT run by Advanced School of Computer Information India Pvt. Ltd.
Great advantages of such a Staff are apparent in the brilliant Board Results-for the past 25 years 100%.
